FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The JROTC Assistant Army Instructor is responsible for assisting the Senior Army Instructor in with the administration, control, and education of students enrolled in the JROTC program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the entire JROTC program in the building.
- Complies with all regulatory guidelines outlined in Cadet Command Regulations.
- Positively fostering students’ self-esteem.
- Working with and understanding a diverse student population.
- Integration of leadership, technology, and communication into the curriculum.
- Planning for and guiding the learning process to help students achieve program objectives.
- Implementing useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures.
- Selecting and using effective instructional methods and learning materials.
- Establishing a cooperative relationship with all assigned students.
- Working collaboratively to achieve the overall purpose of the school’s program and support the District’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Integrates the themes of leadership, technology, and communication with a diverse population.
- Provides quality work that engages students in learning.
- Possesses knowledge of subject matter content.
- Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels.
- Implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals.
- Provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning.
- Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.
- Relates to parents and other community members, individual and corporate, in a positive and helpful fashion.
- Writes, speaks, and presents instruction in a clear, concise, and well-planned manner.
- Participates in self-initiated and school/district-initiated professional growth in order to maintain licensure and support school improvement efforts.
- Adheres to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Submits required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately.
- Inventories classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment.
- Accepts the responsibilities of co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned by administration.
- Participates in department/grade-level teams, school-level teams, and district-level committees as requested.
- Attends school-related functions (e.g. PTA) outside the instructional day.
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Supports the Mississippi Achievement School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Noncommissioned Officers must be retired from the Army in the grades of E-6 through E-9
- Approved by U.S. Army Cadet Command to administer a high school JROTC Program
- Proper certification as required by the Mississippi Educator Licensure Department
- Appropriate endorsement and/or training for assigned course(s)
