JOB TITLE: Federal Programs Bookkeeper
LOCATION: Mississippi Achievement School District (mASD) Central Office

SALARY: $37,000 - $58,000
WORK DAYS: 235 Days - 12-month employee
REPORT TO: Executive Director of Federal Programs and Accountability
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
POSITION OVERVIEW
The accounting clerk/secretary performs those tasks that are necessary to assure the successful operation of the Office of Federal Programs and Accountability, coordination of federal programs projects and programs, as well as compliance and fiscal monitoring.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with school secretaries, directors, coordinators, and other personnel as directed
- Organize and coordinate projects, events, and programs related to federal programs
- Support school and district staff with student information data entry and reporting when necessary
- Summarize data and information in graphs and spreadsheets for reporting purposes
- Prepare correspondence, memorandums, reports, papers, and project narratives as required
- Maintain files of all information pertinent to the operation of the office (testing, federal programs, fixed assets purchased with federal funds) and supports document collection and review for federal monitoring purposes
- Assist in the preparation of federal budgets, monitor and maintain federal budgets and expenditures
- Review school-based and district federal purchasing requests and assists with monitoring of expenditures on a weekly and monthly basis
- Maintain consolidated application for state and federal budgets including amendments
- Verify federal requisitions and expenditures for accuracy
- Maintain records of federal correspondences for local, state and federal monitoring/audit requirements
- Verify and monitor federal payroll
- Maintain positive relationships with state and federal auditors providing information requested during annual audit
- Assist with federal requirements concerning private school notifications, periodic certifications, comparability, etc.
- Assist with requirements concerning school improvement plans, and other plans and programs as applicable
- Perform various related central office duties as requested
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Postsecondary education in Business, Accounting, or a related field, AA preferred
- Experience in secretarial and bookkeeping procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Experience with SAM Spectra, MSIS, and Marathon preferred
- School or district office management experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software specifically Excel spreadsheets and formulas and other accounting software.
